BOTANICAL PRINT PARTY
Discover Your Creativity Through Nature Printing
It all began when a friend visiting Petaluma asked if I would host a creative afternoon for her and a few friends. They weren’t looking for another wine tasting or a packed itinerary. They wanted something meaningful—time to slow down, connect, and create together.
So we gathered around a table filled with freshly gathered eucalyptus, leaves, grasses, flowers, and seed pods collected from the local landscape.
Using these natural materials, guests create one-of-a-kind botanical prints on paper. Although everyone begins with the exact same collection of leaves and flowers, no two prints are ever alike.
That’s what fascinates me.
Without anyone trying, each person’s artwork becomes a reflection of how they naturally approach life. Some thoughtfully compose every leaf before making a print. Others layer colors fearlessly and embrace surprise. There is no right or wrong approach—only individual expression.
This isn’t a workshop about making perfect art.
It’s about slowing down long enough to notice.
Guests often tell me they leave seeing nature differently. They begin noticing the intricate veins of a eucalyptus leaf, the delicate silhouette of a fern, or the beautiful texture of a seed pod they may have walked past hundreds of times before. The experience doesn’t simply create artwork—it reconnects people with the beauty that’s been surrounding them all along.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that everyone leaves feeling like an artist.
Even guests who arrive saying, “I’m not creative,” discover they can create beautiful, meaningful work. Nature provides the inspiration, but every print becomes a unique expression of the person who made it. (In this particular workshop, only one participant was actually a designer.)
“✨ A highly enjoyable new way to create art and work with nature. I left the workshop with a great piece to frame and a feeling of accomplishment. Agnes is an absolute delight….. and is now a new friend! ✨”
What Makes This Experience Different?
Unlike a traditional art class where everyone follows the same steps to create the same project, this experience celebrates individuality. There are no templates, no examples to copy, and no expectation of perfection. Every print is impossible to recreate because every person sees, arranges, and experiments differently.
The result is more than a collection of beautiful botanical prints.
Guests leave with:
A calmer, more grounded mind
A renewed appreciation for the natural world
Meaningful conversations and stronger connections
The confidence to embrace creativity without fear of getting it “right”
Artwork that couldn’t have been created by anyone else
It’s an experience that stays with people long after the prints have dried.
“Agnes created such a beautiful afternoon for my group of friends at her studio. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, from the bespoke foraged plant bar to the individual mini workstations for each guest. We had so much fun experimenting with a variety of paints and botanical transfer techniques on the Gelli plate, and it was amazing to see how each person’s prints turned out uniquely. I would highly recommend this workshop. It’s a creative, relaxing experience and such a fun way to make art with nature!”
A Private Botanical Print Party for Friends Visiting Petaluma
Creating art with natural materials invites us to slow down and notice the beauty that’s often overlooked. Leaves, flowers, grasses, and branches become more than inspiration. They become collaborators in the creative process. Every print captures the intricate textures, patterns, and imperfections that make nature so extraordinary.
Working with botanical elements encourages mindfulness, curiosity, and play. As guests experiment with layering leaves and creating prints using Gelli plates, they naturally become more present, shifting their attention away from daily distractions and into the creative moment.
Studies suggest that both spending time with nature and engaging in creative activities can help reduce stress, improve mood, and support overall well-being. By combining these two experiences, Botanical Print Party offers a restorative, hands-on activity that nurtures both creativity and connection.
Whether you’re celebrating with friends, hosting a wellness retreat, or simply looking for a meaningful shared experience, creating botanical prints is an opportunity to reconnect—with nature, with others, and with your own creativity. Every guest leaves with a collection of original artwork and a renewed sense of calm, inspiration, and wonder.
“Agnes, thank you for leading a wonderful Gelli printing workshop. From reading affirmation cards at the beginning to taking home artwork I made myself, the experience was engaging, creative, and deeply enjoyable. Best of all, I felt completely present and in community with friends. 5 stars!!”
