Ice Dye Day

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2020
HAWTHORNE ARTS COMPLEX
12:OOPM–3:00PM

We are hosting a special Ice Dye Workshop to celebrate the launch of our upcoming Crave Goods collection. We will be teaching our favorite craft, ice dyeing, and making unique garments.

Ice Dyeing is a magical process combining tie dye techniques with ice in making one-of-a-kind patterns. As the ice melts, beautiful forms are revealed. We will begin the day experimenting with folding/binding methods and playing with the magical color alchemy of the dyes. You have the choice of dyeing a women’s lightweight cotton kaftan/cover up or a large cotton canvas beach tote. You can also bring an extra personal item to ice dye. Please purchase ticket for the item you prefer to dye.

To ensure a boutique experience, the size of this workshop is limited to 10 participants. No experience necessary.

Cyanotype Printing

SUNDAY, March 29th
FLOWER SCHOOL DOWNTOWN LA
1:00pm-3:30pm

Learn how to “Paint with the Sun!” In this workshop we will use sunshine to make images on paper. We will guide you through the process of making cyanotype photograms, one of the oldest forms of photography that doesn’t use a camera. Participants will learn how to prepare paper with light sensitive chemicals, compose images using a variety of objects and materials including fresh botanicals, and develop the prints in the summer sunshine! Each student will receive 3 pieces of 8×10 paper which may be cut into as may pieces as desired.  These prints will not only be inspired by nature, they will also incorporate the forms and shapes that make these objects so beautiful. Once you know this process, it allows for infinite possibilities!
